Frequently Asked Questions about Pet Cremation
Many pet owners choosing cremation have questions. These are some of the most common:
- How do I know I'm getting my pet's cremated remains back and not someone else's?
Wichita Valley Pet Cremation uses a unique identification system which involves a stainless-steel metal tag with a unique identification number. This is shown to families at the time we take possession of their beloved pet. It then follows their pet through the cremation process. The tag remains in the chamber with their pet during the cremation process. The tag is affixed to the cremated remains upon removal from the crematory. When using Wichita Valley Pet Cremation, you can have confidence that your pet is being cared for like it was a member of our own family.
- About how long will the cremation take?
Since we are a local company, our goal is to have the care package returned with in 48hrs of pickup/drop-off. However, there will be times when we ask that families allow four to seven days.
- What happens if my pet dies at home. Who do I call?
In the event of a home death, simply call (940) 782-2842. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day. In the event of a death during non-business hours we will come directly to your home or vet's office and bring your pet into our care. Wichita Valley Pet Cremation will come to your home and pick up your deceased pet and have cremated according to your wishes. We will inform your vet or call you as soon as your pet's cremated remains are ready to be picked up or we can deliver them to your home. (An extra charge may apply for home delivery.)
- We are having our pet euthanized at our local vet hospital. Then what?
Instruct your veterinarian to call Wichita Valley Pet Cremation. We will transport your pet from the hospital and arrange the cremation for you. If you choose, you can personally bring your pet to our facility as well. Simply call (940) 782-2842 to make an appointment. We will call you as soon as your pet's cremated remains are ready to be picked up or we can deliver them to your home. (An extra charge may apply for home delivery.)
- Do I have to purchase an Urn?
No. An urn is not required. We at Wichita Valley Pet Creation do offer a cedar wood box/urn or a velvet scatter bag. If you elect not to purchase a urn we will treat your pet’s remains with dignity and have the cremains scattered on our farm. We would be happy to discuss options with you to assist you in memorializing your pet.
- What is the cost of each service?

- If I want to keep my pet’s collar and/or tags do I need to remove these prior to the cremation process?
It is the owner’s responsibility to remove any items they want to keep off their pet before the cremation process.
- What are my payment options?
Wichita Valley Pet Cremation accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, and Cash. If you are working with your local veterinary office please refer to their payment policies.
- Can I bring my deceased pet into your facility?
Yes. By appointment. Simply call our office to schedule an appointment to bring your pet.
- Can Wichita Valley Pet Cremation pick up and transfer my pet’s remains from my home or my veterinarian’s office?
Yes, we will pick up and transport your pet to our facility during regular business or after hours for an additional fee. If you are working with your veterinarian office the pickup fee is included in their pricing.
- Do you offer after hours assistance?
Yes, we are able to be reached after regular business hours. By calling (940) 782-2842 your message will be automatically dispatched to us and we will return your call in a timely manner. An after-hour fee will apply.
- If I’ve buried my pet but have since changed my mind and want him or her cremated, can I do that?
Yes, you can. You can exhume your pet and call us to pickup. Pickup fees apply.
